WestKilbride's violin star Nicola Benedetti has fulfilled a childhood dream this weekend, as she made her first appearance at the Proms season at London's Royal Albert Hall.

She performed one of the best-loved pieces of British music, Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending, with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra led by the Scottish conductor Donald Runnicles, in his first appearance in the Proms as a chief conductor.
