West Kilbride Citizen of the Year 2009

The Rotary Club of Hunterston are looking for nominations for the Citizen/s of the Year 2009 for West Kilbride and the surrounding area following the success of last year's event.

If you know a person or group in West Kilbride or the surrounding areas who has done a good deed, worked unselfishly for others or generally helped the area, why not enter them for Citizen/s of the Year 2009.

Nominations along with a short justification and contact number should be sent to Jim Jackson at 2 Bellard Road, West Kilbride, KA23 9JT or jim@jjwk.wanadoo.co.uk or handed in to the West Kilbride Community Initiative Shop in the Main Street.

Nominations, which can also include last year's unsuccessful participants, will close at the end of February 2010 and the presentation will be held in March 2010.

The winner and person nominating will be invited to a special presentation evening where the winner will receive a cheque for £100 made out to the charity of their choice.

I would like to sugggest Ann McLachlan of Auld Hill Cottage for her tenacity and devotion to the campaign to have Portencross Castle remain in pubic ownwership and raise the funds and grants to have the restoration and stabilisation work done. She has been secratary of FOPC and I believe that as the work comes to fruition in March this would be an appropriate way of thanking her and FOPC for the valubale work done to conserve this building of historic national interest.
