13/11/2008Old Tractor with the flat tyres

Does anyone know if the old tractor on the B7047 south road out of West Kilbride is capable of having its tyres inflated? It looks clapped out. As an artifact welcoming visitors to West Kilbride, perhaps it could be smartened up.
What a fantastic idea....does anyone know anyone who does metalwork or sculpture metal artwork that would take the WK tractor into hand.

Often the problem with these displays are that they cannot get as much love and attention as they need or disserve. Let's not also not forget the point that even if they are cared for, they have a high chance of being vandalised by someone who cares little for West Kilbride.

It is all too easy in a small community to forget the volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to try and make life a little brighter for the residents of West Kilbride. Unfortunately fixing our tractor or working to get a better sculpture / artwork in its place will be low on the priorities of North Ayrshire council, in fact I don't even know if that would fall into their remit.

So ANYONE! Sculptor, Artist, Metal craftsman. Could anyone help us bring a spark of life to the 'tractor'.

I have no knowledge of who owns the tractor and indeed my apologies if you wish no alterations to be made to your much loved tractor of West Kilbride.
It appears the tractor was placed there courtesy of the Environmental Group. The tyres cannot be repaired and so we are looking for some goodwill from the community.

Are there any individuals or businesses out there who would be able to offer replacements? We would be happy to provide a sponsorship label, encouragement and support!
Could the tyres not be made solid by injecting puncture repair foam or its equivalent under pressure?

Have your say:
