'Portincross' by William Young

Extract from the Friends of Portencross Castle (FOPC) November Newsletter:

"It's possibly a reckless statement to make out loud, but at long last it seems likely that the major repair work to allow Portencross Castle to be safe for public access and to survive for future generations will start early in 2009." Read more about the good news for Portencross Castle in the complete newsletter on the FOPC page here on s1westkilbride.

The FOPC Winter Fundraiser is also upon us in the form of our usual coffee morning - all in preparation for Christmas, Hogmanay and cold winter weather. The Coffee Morning Fundraiser will be held at South Banks House, Portencross, on Saturday morning, November 22nd, between the hours of 10:30am and 1pm.

Your £3 donation will provide you with unlimited coffee and homebaking while you visit with your friends and neighbours and select those special last-minute gifts. This will also be the first opportunity to buy the new cards, 'Portincross' by William Young (see image on the right), available as a blank card, Christmas card (both 50p) or postcard (35p) and - a new venture - the 2009 Portencross Calendar, compiled by Audrey, on sale for £7 each. This is a limited edition and this is its first appearance for sale.

Of course there will also be greeting cards, framed pictures, homebaking, preserves and seasonal plants available. As usual, the driveway will be open for drop-off and pick-up. We request, however, that cars be parked at the nearby Portencross car park. Let's hope for nice weather.

FOPC will also have a table in the entrance hall at the West Kilbride Craft Fair on 29th and 30th November.

Mark this on your calendar and come join us! We look forward to seeing you and appreciate your continued support.
