Kirktonhall
Some residents in West Kilbride were rather bemused at the weekend to see the North Ayrshire Council advert in the Local Press seeking interest from organisations within the Community who may be interested in taking on Kirktonhall as a Community Asset Transfer, the confusion arises from the information that was put in the Press and Local Notice Board throughout the whole of last year informing the Community of the newly formed Kirktonhall Business Centre Group.
This Group is still very active, since we lodged our interest in Kirktonhall with the North Ayrshire Council back in January 2011, we have been working tirelessly collating all the information required to move the project forward, unfortunately in November another Group within the Community contacted the Council to also declare an interest in Kirktonhall, after much debate the Council decided to go through with the process of advertising etc, etc, this will now take four months before a decision is finally taken. Sadly the building has now been placed on the Buildings at risk register by Historic Scotland.
Ironically today the Kirktonhall Business Centre Group received confirmation that we had been successful in securing Lottery funding to have a Feasibility Study and Business Plan carried out for Kirktonhall.
