Get knitting as new West Kilbride store opens its doors

A brand new store is coming to West Kilbride, when McHattie’s Yarn Boutique holds its official opening from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 15th October.

The designer yarn boutique at 103 Main Street is the brain child of wool enthusiasts Eileen Bell and Vanessa Armour, who have both had a life-long passion for wools, knitting and crafts.

Eileen and Vanessa, who met as knitting neighbours 32 years ago in Waterfoot, Glasgow, will also be joined in their venture by Lochwinnoch based wool craft specialist Linda Collison of LooseMoose; jewellery designer Anne McCord of Get Your Rocks On and jewellery designer and bead crafter Chris Hughes of Tiger Blue, both from Paisley.

The specialist wool and craft shop will feature the most amazing and colourful hand dyed yarns, one-off knitted accessories, silver and beaded jewellery plus unique designer crafted handbags. And that’s not all, individual commissions will be taken and a bespoke design service is available by appointment.

The professional designers will also be holding drop in knit-and-natter sessions as well as general advice for beginners to advanced knitters. Eileen, now a Seamill resident, described McHattie’s as “Inspirational and conversational; a great way to feed your creative appetite and share your creative skills.” She continued, “We will also be launching details of our autumn to spring workshop programme on the opening day. There will be something for everyone here and at all different skill levels.”

Wool enthusiast Vanessa added, “The yarns we have are fabulous, the colours are designed by professional die technicians who have created an unique range of colours which give knitters the opportunity to create individual and stunning items in a whole range of wool weights, textures, shades and colours. Come and fall in love!”

As an extra special warm welcome to fellow crafters and the curious McHatties will have 10% off all stock throughout their open day.

Good luck to everyone at the new store! Post your comments and messages here on s1westkilbride
