West Kilbride Yuletide Night 2008: Success? Or not?

Kaboum Band

Yet another Yuletide Night neatly under the belt of West Kilbride and yet again I never had a chance to see any of it! But thank you very much to all the customers who kept my shop so busy I was unable to see how everyone was enjoying it. I am very grateful for all those who came to my shop on the night and hope to see you all again.

If you are not aware, there is a whole committee of people who work very tirelessly filling in forms, giving out leaflets, organizing prize draws, fund raising and decorating Santa's sleigh to make the Yuletide Night all come together: The West Kilbride Yuletide Committee. I must extend a huge huge thank you to our committee and all their friends and family who volunteer to help organize the night, and then to you, the Yuletide attendees, without you there would be no Yuletide Night. Every year I am approached by people who have fantastic ideas how the night could be improved or things they could add to the night. Please, please, please come to the AGM in February, all your suggestions and more importantly your time is very important to the Yuletide Night.

As I was unable to see how everyone was enjoying the night, I would like to take this opportunity to ask how the night was for you? Let me start, so that you can continue like me to let everyone know how the experience was for you.

Kirsty Allan:
Yuletide night for me start very early in the day, organizing stock, getting in my super shinny legging (yes did you see my ridiculous costume) and getting the wine open for the impending visitor. From 5pm until 10pm three of us worked hard to receive our customers and make their night a festive one, with fantastic discounts on our stock. Unfortunately, but very fortunately, we were so busy none of use got to leave the shop to see what the rest of the village were doing. We found the night a fantastic opportunity to say thank you to new and old customers and everyone seems to be so happy and really entering into the community Christmas spirit. Some customers were telling me they really love the Yuletide Night as it has turned into an annual event allowing them to catch up with friends and neighbours and really enjoy how West Kilbride all comes together for the night. It makes me happy to see so many people in West Kilbride, it really shows how the community can come together.

Santa comes to West Kilbride!
