Environmental Group WKCIL
GLENSIDE GREEN GYM BTCV
Three Green Gym Leaders have now been trained and the development is supported by BTCV. Activities include all aspects of gardening starting off with warming up exercises and ending with cooling down stretches. Research indicates that this type of regular exercise improves physical and mental health. It's also rewarding and a lot of fun.
Sessions run every Friday from 9.30 - 12.30 starting at Garratt Gardens - drop in for as long as you like and join in our work. For more information phone Kay Hall at 01294 823430
On Friday 8th July we will be working in the community Orchard. Please meet at the Cherry Orchard at 9.30am. May need wellies,- certainly gloves and a spade.
Aims in 2011
West Kilbride Environmental Group's main aim is to restore civic pride in the town, by enhancing the environment through floral displays, tree planting, creation of woodland meadows, installing natural sculptures, upgrading buildings and creating community gardens. The group have also succeeded in increasing the environmental awareness of local residents and other local groups.
In 2010 we planted a large orchard in the glen with the assistance of local organisations and other groups. More activities are being planned for 2011 - see information on our Glenside Green Gym. We would like to increase the capability of the group - the group meet on last Wednesday of the month in the Village Hall at 19:00 or contact kaymartinh@dsl.pipex.com
New members are always welcome or why not just come along and find out about us - a no pressure visit!
