The village of West Kilbride sits on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, by the smaller communities Seamill and Portencross, overlooking the Isle of Arran. Known as Craft Town Scotland, West Kilbride's reputation for craft and design has made it home to artists, studios and a gallery, but Scotland's Craft and Design Town also has Roman remains, castles (Law Castle and Portencross Castle) and an 18 hole golf course. Industries close to the village include the Hunterston B nuclear power station and the nearby Hunterston Terminal, and there's a wind farm on Busbie Muir. Today West Kilbride is a proud community of around 4600 people and s1westkilbride.com has been developed to allow residents to share their news, views and opinions, make announcements, publicise events and show off their photos and videos.
